St Blazey end long wait for a home win

St Blazey 3v2 Plymouth Marjons. Att 71 (2 Away)

St Blazey secured just their second home win of the season and their first since the opening Friday night back in August as St Blazey came from behind to secure all 3 points.

Plymouth Marjons had taken an early lead when a ball across the box was side footed home. St Blazey hit back before half time with a good strike creeping inside the near post from Jordan Powell. Marjons should have re taken the lead when a ball across the box was controlled and the shot smashed against the base of the near post and the loose ball hooked clear. That miss was to prove costly as St Blazey almost took the lead when a header from a corner was cleared off the line. The resulting corner was swung in and captain Lewis Vooght headered the ball home.

St Blazey began the second half looking the more confident with out creating any clear cut chances. Out of the blue, Steve Rodgers smashed home an unstoppable effort to put St Blazey 3v1 up. Marjons were awarded a free kick with 15 minutes remaining. Despite the ball being well placed, the low drive down the middle beat everyone to give Marjons hope. Marjons dominated the final quarter hour as St Blazey struggled to keep the ball. Tackles went flying in, block shots and one outstanding save kept St Blazey in front. The final whistle went and a huge sigh of relief as St Blazey held on for all 3 points.

Next up for St Blazey, a return to Charity cup action as St Blazey travel to St Dennis looking to seal a semi final place.
