Porthleven 3v0 St Blazey. Att. 77. (13 St Blazey)
Porthleven made St Blazey pay for not taking their chances as they ran out comfortable winners in the end on the opening day of the season at a sunny Gala Park.
St Blazey made the first half chance when a loose ball was chased down with the Port goalkeeper and the ball was cleared to safety. Port grew into the game playing with the wind and pinned St Blazey back. A counter attack after 23 minutes saw a cross from the right headed home well from former St Blazey striker Drummond. Just before half time, St Blazey were given a great chance to draw level when a clumsy challenge gifted St Blazey a penalty. The Penalty was well struck but far to close to the goalkeeper who saved well.
Half Time. Porthleven 1vo St Blazey.
The second half saw St Blazey take the game to Porthleven who were reduced to 10 men when Hindmarsh was sent off for a bad tackle. With a man advantage St Blazey pushed for the equalizer and several chances went begging as poor finishing and deflections kept Porthleven ahead. St Blazeys missed opportunity’s would come back to haunt them as Porthleven broke away after Paddy West lost the ball in midfield and Drummond added his second after 68 minutes. St Blazey kept pushing but just couldn’t really test the Port keeper. St Blazey were lucky not to be reduced to 10 men when a poor challenge resulted in only a yellow card much to Porthlevens disgust. Port were then down to 9 men briefly when one player went off injured but St Blazey couldn’t take advantage. With time running out a break down down the right from Port, a poor challenge left them to get to the edge of the box and a good cross was finished off by Matt Fox with just 4 minutes left to make it 3v0.
St Blazey now travel to Liskeard on Wednesday night.
