St Blazey 2v3 Holsworthy. Att. 86.
St Blazeys first home game of the season was free to all supporters and a crowd of 86 was there to witness a disappointing defeat. Not all was lost, as new faces came to Blaise Park from far and wide to enjoy the opening home game of the season.
St Blazey were made to pay for a poor first half and being 0v3 down, were left with a mountain to climb. A ball into the box was volleyed clear by St Blazey only for the ball to hit another player and loop to the far post where Holsworthy’s Robinson had a simple header to put them 1 up. St Blazey were punished further when from a throw in, a simple ball over the top left Holsworthys striker to run in on goal and a simple square ball was rolled home by Smith to make it 0v2. Arriku added a third just 2 minutes before half time to leave an almost impossible task.
Hal Time. St Blazey 0v3 Holsworthy.
Stuart Morgan came on at half time and gave St Blazey a much greater threat up front. St Blazey made a couple half chances but it was Holsworthy who looked likely to add a 4th on the break. Midway through the second half the game changed when Holsworthys goalkeeper was shown a straight red card when he came out and took down Morgan. He will feel unlucky with 3 covering defenders but off he went. With no substitute goalkeeper, Holsworthy used an out field player and he looked comfortable in goal. Then in the 72nd minute St Blazey were awarded a penalty and up stepped Rendle to take it. The goalkeeper dived to his right to save it only for Rendle to smash home the rebound. St Blazey pushed forward but just couldnt get that second goal quick enough. One fantastic chance put over the bar after a great cross from Morgan. Harris cut in from the right in the 89th minute and curled a great effort into the top corner to make it 2v3. With St Blazey pushing forward a long clearance left and a poor tackle left a Holsworthy player in on goal only for Ryan Yeoman to stop him with a foul and another straight red card. He will now miss our Vase match away at Cadbury Heath.
