Dobwalls 0v4 St Blazey Att 45 (Away 23)

St Blazey, with several players missing put in a superb first 45 minutes to blow Dobwalls away despite going down to 10 men after 34 minutes. St Blazey arrived at Lantoom Park, home of Dobwalls full of confidence after three wins on the bounce that had seen St Blazey climb the league table and reach the second round of the senior cup. With key players missing including Lyle Johnson, Harry Eaton, Ryan Yeoman and Paddy West carrying an injury from Wednesday nights mid week win over Wendron. So a chance for others to step in and show what they can do and no one disappointed. The pitch looked in good condition despite the poor weather recently. Dobwalls were the first side to have an attempt on goal which was defected and went out for a corner. The resulting corner came in and a shot from the edge of the box sailed over the bar. Soon after with just 5 minutes on the clock, player manager Stuart Morgan didn’t give up on a loose ball on the half way line and the ball back towards the Dobwalls goalkeeper looped up leaving the Goalkeeper out of position and Deadman nipped in taking a couple of touches and rolling the ball into the empty net to put St Blazey in front. In the 14th minute Dan Bennett escaped a yellow card after a coming together on the half way line but minutes later there could be no complaints when he conceded a free kick after a poor tackle. The resulting free kick was floated in and St Blazey cleared out wide where the ball was switched across to Perryman. After beating his man for pace Perryman drove forward cutting inside another defender and unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top right hand corner clipping post and bar giving the goalkeeper no chance. Elation turned to despair in the 34th minute when the Referee gave Bennett a second yellow card for a kick out after the ball had gone which seemed harsh. Once play re-started Dobwalls took their corner, which was met with a good punch from Chapman in goal for St Blazey. The ball was won and knocked out wide to Deadman who knocked the ball long looking for Hayden. The Dobwalls goalkeeper came out and didn’t get there and Hayden poked the ball into an empty net to put St Blazey three up. Dobwalls looked shell shocked and they looked the side with a player missing. Morgan could have made it four when a good ball into Perryman was chested down to him but his shot was dragged wide. In the 41st minute, another free kick to Dobwalls went over the bar. Soon after St Blazey were back on the attack. Deadman went down in the box after a good one two with Hayden. The referee waved away any penalty claims but Vooght picked up the loose ball, beat his man and floated a perfect cross over the goalkeeper for Joe Stone to head home St Blazey’s 4th.

Half Time. Dobwalls 0v4 St Blazey.

With a big lead and with 10 men, playing up the slope, it was always going to be hard for St Blazey to perform like they did in the first half and so it proved. St Blazey stuck to their task of making sure Dobwalls didn’t get back in the game. Dobwalls number six drove at the St Blazey’s defence and his shot deflected out for a corner. The corner was met with a header and cleared off the line. Minutes later another ball in from the right was met with a header which flew just wide. The referee was called over to talk to the Dobwalls bench and then the referee walked over to the St Blazey bench. The Referee then walked over to a club official and asked him to remove a supporter from the ground, apparently for something that was said. The match re started and Perryman was played in down the right. He drove past one defender and took on another with some great skill and finally played the ball off a defender to win a corner. Superb effort. Morgan swung in the corner which went straight out of play. Morgan then went off and replaced himself with our latest signing Ryan McNaught who was a free agent having last played for Dartmouth. Perryman was back on the ball again and his good cross cut out the Dobwalls defence and Hayden running in just couldn’t quite reach the cross. Another corner for St Blazey and Stone coming in at the far post headed just over. That would be St Blazeys last effort on goal with Dobwalls pushing for a late consolation goal. Chapman saved after a good shot from the right of the box. Another effort Chapman could only push away and it took the ball to be hooked clear. One Dobwalls player was booked for kicking the ball away after giving a free kick away. Dobwalls then clipped the post after winning the ball on the left and the curled cross clipped the post and was cleared to safety. Dobwalls last effort on goal came from a free kick just outside the box. The shot clipping the top of the bar and going out for a goal kick. The final whistle went and the St Blazey players were cheered off the pitch. Great sceanes after the final whistle as the St Blazey players celebated another 3 points. A real togetherness within the squad now and long may it continue. St Blazey are now up to 7th and their highest postion of the season so far and games still in hand.

Final Score. Dobwalls 0v4 St Blazey.

Man of the match. Dan Perryman. Goal of the season contender and never stopped running combined with skill.
